Account PIN
How it works
- Type .pin and press Set PIN.
- Click your PIN on the number pad (4 to 8 digits), press OK
- then click it again to confirm.
- The PIN starts protecting your account 48 hours later. Until then Cancel PIN removes it without asking for anything.
What you keep and lose
- With a PIN, a login from a network you have not unlocked in the last 30 days freezes the character: it is invisible, cannot be hurt, and cannot do anything until the PIN is entered.
- Not entered within 120 seconds: you are disconnected.
- A network means your internet provider range (the first 2 numbers of your IP). Playing from home every day never asks again, a thief on another network always does.
- Deleting a character from the character list is also refused from a network that is not trusted.
Tips
- The pad only sends which button you pressed, never the digit, and the digits move after every click - a keylogger cannot learn the PIN.
- Pick something that is not your birthday or your password.
- A thief with your password but not your PIN gets nothing: no trade, no store, no mail, no auction, no drops.
Wrong PIN
How it works
- You get 5 tries. After that you are disconnected and that connection is locked out of PIN entry for 5 min, then 30 min, then 24 h (each repeat is longer).
- After 15 wrong tries in 24 hours from all places together, PIN entry from unknown networks is blocked for 24 hours.
- Next time you log in from a trusted network you are told how many wrong tries were made, when and from which network.
What you keep and lose
- Forgot the PIN? Staff can remove it with a command. Contact them on Discord and be ready to prove the account is yours - they cannot see the PIN.
- Nobody can reset it from inside the game on their own, so a thief cannot do it either.
Tips
- If a wrong-try notice was not you, change your account password.
Settings
How it works
- Change PIN and Remove PIN ask for the current PIN first.
- Always ask asks for the PIN at every login, even from your usual network - use it on a shared connection or an internet cafe.
- Forget Networks empties the trusted list, so the next login from anywhere asks again (the Trusted tab lists them).
- Every login shows a chat line with your previous login time and network, with or without a PIN.
What you keep and lose
- Trusted networks expire 30 days after the last time you typed the PIN there.
- A PIN set on an account you do not use is only protecting it from the 48-hour mark: every login in between shows a notice with a cancel button, so a PIN set by a thief can be cancelled by the owner.
Tips
- If you see "a PIN was set on this account" and it was not you: press Cancel PIN, then change your password.
